Named rate
Named rate is the headline metric Searchd reports, and it is deliberately simple.

Three properties make it useful. It is bounded, so it cannot be inflated by adding more questions. It is comparable, because the panel is fixed for twelve months and re-run on the same schedule. And it is decomposable — you can read it by engine, by question type, or by market and see where the movement came from.
What it is not is an attribution model. Named rate rising does not by itself prove revenue moved. It is an exposure metric, in the same family as share of voice, and it should be read alongside AI-assistant referral traffic and conversions rather than instead of them.
A single-digit named rate at baseline is what we expect for a brand that sells mostly in its home market, and zero is unremarkable for a young brand in an export market. Searchd has run no client panels, so there is no distribution to publish; these are the expectations we scope against.
